Head Student Sadie Mason looks back at a very busy few weeks, with some fantastic sporting success!

Kia ora koutou,

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break and is feeling refreshed and ready to dive into Term 3!

Over the holidays, 13 of our students travelled to Invercargill to represent South of the South in the National Area Schools Tournament. Over four action-packed days, they competed with incredible determination, teamwork, and pride. It was amazing to see the level of sportsmanship they displayed both on and off the field. We are extremely proud of every single one of you for your effort, commitment, and the way you represented our school and region.

South Of The South

A massive congratulations goes to Hazel Mason, Hazel Henderson, Kiara Thyne, Riley Beattie, Jackson Parata, and Mark Lavina, who were selected for a New Zealand Area Schools Team—an outstanding achievement that reflects their skill and hard work.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to the teachers who gave their time and energy to support the students, as well as the generous sponsors who made it possible for them to take part in this amazing opportunity. Your support truly makes a difference.

Another special shout-out to Hazel Mason, who also represented the U18 North Otago Representative Netball Team at the U18 Netball Rep Tournament in Auckland over the break. What makes this even more impressive is that Hazel is still an U16 player competing at this higher level—ka pai, Hazel!

Looking ahead, we have our School Cross Country happening today, so make sure you come along and cheer on all the runners. Let’s show our support and encouragement to everyone taking part!

Ngā mihi,

Sadie Mason
