This week, M4 students had the opportunity to take their science learning to the next level by dissecting a sheep’s digestive system. The hands-on activity was part of their current unit on human and animal biology, allowing students to see firsthand how organs work together to break down food and absorb nutrients.

Guided carefully by their teacher, students examined each part of the digestive system — from the oesophagus and stomach chambers to the intestines — comparing the structure and function of a sheep’s system to that of humans. The session sparked plenty of curiosity and discussion, with students making detailed observations and asking thoughtful questions about digestion and adaptation.

For many, this was their first time participating in a dissection, and the experience provided a memorable and meaningful way to connect classroom learning with real-world anatomy. The activity also encouraged teamwork, precision, and respect for scientific study.

Well done to our M4 scientists for their enthusiasm and maturity during this fascinating exploration into how living things process the fuel that keeps them going!
