Collecting Junior Students

To ensure a smooth and safe transition at the end of the school day, please follow these procedures for collecting Junior School students:

  • End-of-Day Collection: Please wait outside the building near your child's designated classroom door. Teachers will escort the students outside to meet you at the dismissal bell.
  • During School Hours: If you need to pick up your child before the school day ends, please report directly to the main office.
  • Sign-Out Protocol: An office staff member will locate your student and bring them to the office for you. You must sign them out officially before departing.

Sunhats and Sun Safety

As we head into the warmer months, we want to ensure all students are protected while enjoying the outdoors. Please note the following requirements regarding school sunhats and sun protection:

  • Year 1–10 Students: Sunhats are now a compulsory part of the school uniform. These must be worn during all outdoor activities, including morning tea and lunch breaks.
  • Year 11–13 Students: While not mandatory, senior students are strongly encouraged to wear hats to model sun-safe behavior.
  • Approved Style: To provide maximum protection, hats must be wide-brimmed. Please note that caps are not permitted as they do not provide sufficient coverage for the ears and neck.
  • Sunscreen: The school has sunscreen available for students to use for reapplying throughout the day. However, we ask that you please apply sunscreen to your child prior to their arrival at school each morning.

Important Note: To ensure their safety, any student who forgets their hat will be required to remain under the verandah or in a designated shaded location during outdoor times.

School Bus Procedures

To ensure the safety and accountability of all students traveling to and from school, please familiarize yourself with our daily bus protocols:

  • Morning Arrival: Students will be dropped off at the school’s designated bus parking spot each morning.
  • Afternoon Departure: At the end of the school day, all bus students must meet Ms. Evans (our Bus Controller) to be officially signed off before boarding.
  • Daily Attendance: It is vital that the school is aware if your child will be taking the bus on any given day.

Changes to Transport Plans

If your child’s plans change and they will not be going home on the bus as usual, please contact the school office directly. This allows us to update our manifests and ensure no student is unaccounted for during the afternoon roll call.

Reporting Absences and Student Leave

To ensure all students are accounted for and our attendance records are accurate, please use the School Bridge platform for all absence-related communication.

Daily or Unplanned Absences

If your child is unwell or unable to attend school for the day:

  • Action: Open School Bridge and select the "Report Absence" icon.
  • Details Matter: Please provide a detailed message regarding the reason for the absence. This information is essential for our team to apply the correct Ministry of Education attendance code.
  • Follow-up: If the school has not been notified of an absence, you will receive an automated notification after 1st Period requesting an explanation.

Planned Leave (Holidays & Extended Trips)

If you are planning for your child to be away from school ahead of time (e.g., family holidays or personal events):

  • Action: Use the "Student Leave Request" icon on School Bridge.
  • Process: This will direct you to a formal request form to complete for school approval.

Technical Issues

In the event that School Bridge is down or you are experiencing technical difficulties, please contact the school office directly via phone or email to report the absence.

Carpark and Drop-off Procedures

We are pleased to introduce our new carpark layout, designed to improve traffic flow and, most importantly, the safety of our students. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the two distinct sections:

  • Drop-off Bay: If you are simply dropping your child off in the morning and continuing on your way, please use the designated drop-off lane. This area is for quick transitions only to keep traffic moving smoothly.
  • Main Carpark: If you need to leave your vehicle to come into the school grounds, or if you anticipate your drop-off will take longer than a moment, please use a park in the main carparking section.

Pedestrian Safety

When manoeuvring throughout the carpark, please remain extra vigilant. Be mindful of students and families using the designated crossings to enter the school grounds. A slow and cautious approach helps ensure everyone stays safe during the busy morning and afternoon peaks.
