Practice Updates TOD 20th March- School ClosedWe are holding a Teacher Only Day on the 20th March focussing on teaching Maths and the new Maths Curriculum. This will involve the full school. Staff not teaching Maths in the senior school will be working with Nyree on NCEA. I apologise for the short notice but I could get a facilitator to travel to us and as a school we are focussing on Maths as an area of professional development. This is a Ministry Curriculum Day allocated for the implementation of the new Maths Curriculum. We are also working with an external Maths facilitator across the year at TAS, and will be linking in with the Oamaru Mathematics Cluster working with Robb Profitt White. I have worked with Rob through the Area School Cluster in North Canterbury, he works with schools across New Zealand and Australia and makes maths come to life. I am really excited that TAS will have this opportunity. Important Safety Notice: Construction and Traffic ManagementPlease be reminded that the old school and the new caretaker block are still active sites for construction and demolition. As a result, there is a significant amount of extra machinery and large vehicles moving around our school boundaries. We have noticed that many students are struggling to navigate Mt Cook Street during peak arrival and departure times due to this increased heavy traffic. To ensure everyone stays safe, we ask for your help with the following:Avoid Mt Cook Street: If your child walks or bikes to school, please encourage them to avoid the construction end of Mt Cook Street entirely.Use Alternative Entrances: We recommend students enter and exit the school grounds via our other designated gates to stay clear of the machinery.Driver Awareness: If you are dropping off or picking up by car, please be extra vigilant and patient with the changing traffic flow. The safety of our tamariki is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping your children find a safer route to school while these improvements are underway!Website Updates in ProgressPlease be aware that due to a staff changeover in our administration area, some sections of the school website are currently out of date.We are working hard behind the scenes to get all information, calendars, and contacts updated as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience during this transition. In the meantime, if you are looking for specific information that doesn't quite look right or seems outdated, please reach out to us directly at [email protected].Payment Plan options We understand that activities can be expensive. If you would like to get ahead with payments for things such as Snow Club, School Camps, SAS, or Nationals, please note that payment plans are available. If you would like to arrange a payment plan, please come and see Missy in the school office or email [email protected].PE Reminder To support our students in developing responsibility and respect for themselves and others, we kindly ask that all students wear their PE gear for every PE lesson and school activity. This includes a house-colour t-shirt and black sports shorts and rubber shoes, bike shorts are discouraged. Wearing the appropriate gear ensures that students are comfortable, confident, and able to fully engage in every activity, helping them get the most out of their learning and physical development.
