New Leaps and Bounds: TAS Debuts New Long Jump Pits

Over the last weekend, you may have noticed a significant upgrade to our sporting facilities! We are thrilled to announce that two brand-new school long jump pits have been successfully installed and are ready for action.

These pits have been meticulously measured and accurately placed to ensure our students can practice and compete in both long jump and triple jump to official standards. The timing couldn't have been better, as they were put to the test this past Monday during the Country High Athletics meet and were incredibly well-received by all the competitors.

A True Community Effort

Projects like this remind us how lucky we are to have such a supportive community. We want to extend a massive "thank you" to the following people who made this possible:

  • Geoff and Mark: For spending their entire Saturday digging and marking out the pits. It was a long, grueling day in the sun, and we truly appreciate your hard work.

  • Tim and Fleur Larkins: For generously providing the use of their digger.

  • Road Metals: For the incredible donation of two truckloads of sand.

  • Neil Sproull: For your time and effort in collecting and delivering the sand to the school.

  • Dene and Dave: Our staff members who have been busy behind the scenes getting the pits up to scratch for Monday’s event.

Caring for our New Facilities

While the fresh sand is certainly inviting, we have a small favor to ask. While the pits are fun to play in, we ask that students and visiting whānau please do not use them as a play area. To keep the sand clean and the pits at their competitive best, you will shortly notice that they will be covered when not in use for school sports. This ensures the landing surface stays soft and safe for our athletes.
