Over the past term M3 was involved in a Market Day Project as part of their Year 9 Social Sciences course. This project enabled students to work in small groups to plan and run a short-term business enterprise. National Schools Shakespeare Performance 2022

Head students, Louie and Lily were selected to take part in the National Schools Shakespeare Performance for 2022 in Dunedin during the school holidays. They joined students from all over New Zealand in a week-long intensive course, studying aspects of Shakespeare’s works and three of his plays in particular under the direction of leading directors.

Judges say YES to Monique

A huge congratulations goes to Year 12 student Monique van der Westhuizen who has finished 3rd in the Young Enterprise Scheme mid-year pitch for her Gold Tiki Venture and now progresses to the Regional Finals. Monique also claimed $90 in prize money and the adoration of the judges who were blown away by her "level of professionalism and confidence".

The Year 11 Physics students were tasked with solving the problem of carrying out a practical investigation that leads to a linear mathematical relationship! 🤔

Swimming NZ Visit

Canterbury Aquatic Education & Water Safety Advisor Dianne Hunter, from Swimming New Zealand, spent the day in the pool with all our junior classes on Wednesday. The sessions were focused on water safety and awareness, to teach what to do when children find themselves in a difficult situation in the water.

The tramp day of Outdoor Ed Week this year involved hiking the start of the Greta Stream track in the Ben Ohau range.

Science Prize Winners

The prize winners from last term's Science Fair were finally able to receive their recognition after our in-school event was cut short due to lockdown.

Year 10 learners early in Term 3 were challenged with building an Escape Room. These learners, who were not attending snow club, were split into teams and assigned differently themed rooms – the catch – each room had to be connected to the others in some way so an end phrase would be decoded.

Level four lockdown. Again. And I don’t think it’s getting any easier. Covid fatigue is real at our place! Although we’ve all been here before and should be old hats at lockdown life, it’s still hard – especially as a working parent.
