The Board of Trustees would like to provide an update regarding the changes to the Senior Leadership Team at Twizel Area School.

Last Friday evening, our Year 11 to 13 students had the pleasure of attending the highly anticipated Senior Formal — a night filled with style, celebration, and special memories. The event was a huge success, thanks to the incredible effort and dedication of everyone involved in making it happen.

Bevan is pleased to introduce himself as the Acting Deputy Principal — whether he’s a familiar face or someone you’re meeting for the first time.

Room 9 students have been busy bringing a splash of pink and a whole lot of kindness to our school! As part of a creative project to support Pink Shirt Day, the students designed their own pink shirt artworks and proudly placed them around the school.

The Southern Area Schools Tournament was held this year in Owaka, hosted by The Catlins Area School. With 30 students representing Twizel Area School, the week was packed with competition, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.

The Ministry of Education is currently rolling out new curriculum documents, bringing updates to the way core subjects like reading, writing, and maths are taught and assessed in schools across Aotearoa.

Senior Biology students recently had the opportunity to take part in a practical genetics lab run by two scientists from the University of Otago. The session introduced students to real-world laboratory techniques, including the use of restriction enzymes and gel electrophoresis to analyse genetically modified plasmids.
